I was born in 1953 in Girardot, Colombia, a city by the Magdalena River. I completed my first university studies in Bogotá. I came to the UK for the first time in 1989 and in 1998, I settled in London. I have been living in Swansea since 4th July 2018.

This is me; the Constanza that one day visited London and years later, married and stayed in the UK. This is my story in a few pictures, with some captions which also reflect who I am, the way I write, and the music which has affected me greatly. 

I am that person who has lived, grown, changed through time: the daughter, the student, the tourist, the wife, the sister, the friend, the worker… The one who now feels more comfortable with herself, more adapted to her new environment, more flexible, and more participative. The one that continues constructing herself and changing.

I am the one who came to Swansea a little before the pandemic, with a cat on a train. Bruce and I moved to Swansea to continue our lives here in this city in Wales. In London, I was working with the NHS and completing my dissertation for a Master’s Degree in Journalism at Birkbeck University. I had a journalistic project in progress too: www.Guayaba.live.

Although I have worked in photography, my photographs here matter not because of their quality but for what they say about me. I have returned to old pictures, taken new ones, and focused more on what has been my life in Swansea, especially ‘before’ and ‘after’ Covid.

Nací en Girardot, Colombia, en 1953, una ciudad al lado del río Magdalena. Hice mis primeros estudios universitarios en Bogotá. Llegué al RU, por primera vez, en 1989 y en 1998, me establecí en Londres. Estoy radicada en Swansea desde el 4 de julio de 2018.

Esta soy yo; la Constanza que un día visitó Londres y que años después, se casó y se quedó a vivir en el Reino Unido. Esta es mi historia en unas pocas fotografías, y con unos textos que reflejan quién soy yo, cómo escribo y algo de la música que me ha influenciado fuertemente. 

Yo soy esa persona que ha vivido, crecido y cambiado a través del tiempo: la hija, la estudiante, la turista, la esposa, la hermana, la amiga, la trabajadora… esa que ahora se siente más contenta consigo misma, más adaptada a sus nuevos espacios, más flexible, y más participativa. Aquella que sigue aún construyéndose y cambiando.

Yo soy aquella que llegó a Swansea casi justo antes de la pandemia, con un gato en un tren. Bruce y yo decidimos continuar con nuestras vidas en esta ciudad de Gales. Había terminado mi trabajo con el NHS y me disponía a terminar la tesis de grado de mi especialidad en periodismo en la Universidad de Birkbeck. Había comenzado, también, un proyecto periodístico llamado www.Guayaba.live.

A pesar de haber trabajado en fotografía, las fotografías que usted ve acá se han escogido más por su contenido que por su calidad, por lo que dicen de mí.  Aquí hay fotos de archivo, fotos nuevas, pero fotos que tienen como eje central mi vida en Swansea, especialmente “antes” y “después” del Covid.
