This is a photo I took in the past. It is a place I love. It reminds me of my happy days of childhood when our family would visit lovely places. The church and market stalls are situated in Sensuntepeque, a town and municipality in El Salvador – my home country that I miss so much. In this region, they produce coffee, sugar cane and sesame seeds, as well as dairy products. Gold, silver and copper are the principal minerals mined there and its main industrial activity is oriented towards the manufacture of potteries, cheese, lime and also distilleries.

Esta es una foto que tomé en el pasado. Es un lugar que me encanta. Me recuerda mis días felices de la infancia, cuando nuestra familia visitaba lugares encantadores. La iglesia y los puestos del mercado están situados en Sensuntepeque, un pueblo y municipio de El Salvador, mi país natal que tanto echo de menos. En esta región se produce café, caña de azúcar y sésamo, así como productos lácteos. El oro, la plata y el cobre son los principales minerales que se extraen allí y su principal actividad industrial está orientada hacia la fabricación de alfarerías, quesos, cal y también destilerías

I took this image of myself to convey how uncertain I feel about my present and future life. I feel I have a very long way to go in every sphere of my life. I’m at college studying to be a nurse but it will take a long time and it’s tough. The asylum process also takes a long time. It is not easy living alone in a shared house with strangers.

Tomé esta imagen de mí misma para transmitir lo incierta que me siento sobre mi vida presente y futura. Siento que tengo un camino muy largo que recorrer en todas las esferas de mi vida. Estoy en la universidad estudiando para ser enfermera, pero me llevará mucho tiempo y es difícil. El proceso de asilo también lleva mucho tiempo. No es fácil vivir sola en una casa compartida con extraños.

I took this photo during the photography workshops, and it just struck me how important it is to just relax, to sip a coffee and to dream of a better future. This photo conveys that to me and my hope for a future where finally I can relax.

Tomé esta foto durante los talleres de fotografía y me llamó la atención lo importante que es relajarse, tomar un café y soñar con un futuro mejor. Esta foto me transmite eso y mi esperanza en un futuro en el que pueda relajarme por fin.
