We are a Central American family full of love and hope.
With the pandemic we felt moments of loneliness as we moved away from our loved ones to protect our children; we felt fear, panic and moments of anguish as the number of people infected with COVID 19 multiplied every day. Everything changed for us from one day to the next: the way we travelled, the way we greeted each other, the way we shopped, our children’s schooling. But in spite of everything, we managed to prevent the virus from reaching our homes by taking all biosecurity measures.
At first, when we arrived in this country, we felt nostalgic when we remembered our homeland, sadness and uncertainty for not knowing what would happen, but little by little, we started to adapt… mainly to the climate. Now our goal is to learn the language in order to achieve our objectives. We still miss our homeland, but seeing our children in a safe place gives us the satisfaction of having done the right thing by leaving our country.
In our future we see our personal goals fulfilled. It is not an easy task but every day we strive to take one more step in the race for a better future.
Somos una familia centroamericana llena de amor y esperanza.
Con la pandemia sentimos momentos de soledad debido a que nos alejamos de nuestros seres queridos para proteger a nuestros hijos; sentimos miedo, pánico y momentos de angustia debido a que cada día se multiplicaba el número de infectados de COVID 19. Todo cambió para nosotros de un día a otro: la manera de viajar, de saludar, de comprar, la educación escolar de nuestros hijos. Pero a pesar de todo, logramos evitar que el virus llegara a nuestro hogar tomando todas las medidas de bioseguridad.
Al principio, al llegar a este país, sentimos nostalgia al recordar nuestra tierra, tristeza e incertidumbre por no saber lo que pasaría, pero poco a poco, la adaptación fue llegando… principalmente al clima. Ahora nuestra meta es aprender el idioma para lograr nuestros objetivos. Seguimos extrañando nuestra patria, pero al ver a nuestros hijos en un lugar seguro nos da la satisfacción de haber hecho lo correcto al abandonar nuestro país.
En nuestro futuro vemos cumplidas nuestras metas personales. No es una tarea fácil pero cada día nos esforzamos por dar un paso más en esa carrera por obtener un futuro mejor.
